The first Russian born player to reach a singles final, the first silver medal ever for a member of the German darts team, the first bronze team medal ever for Germany and the first time a lady player has won World Cup medals for more than one land, the first being a ladies pairs gold medal in 2007 for her native Russia.
Irina travelled to the WDF World Cup in Canada on the back of her win in Luxembourg with confidence and she was within a whisper of winning gold in the singles. Finally losing out to Deta Hedman in the final. The final was a very tense affair with Deta taking an early lead of 3 - 0 before Irina finally got on the board. After losing the first 3 legs Irina won 5 out of the next 7 to tie the match at 5 - 5 but finally going down 7 - 5. None-the-less 2nd place at the World Cup is no mean feat and a great performance by Irina.
Irina and ladies team mate Anne Willkomm proudly wear their medals.
