2014 Round Up

Having travelled less in 2014 due to other commitments Irina still managed to finish

4th in the WDF World Rankings, keeping up her top 5 place for the 8th year in a row.

Her continuing success in BDO ranked events assured her place at the

2015 Lakeside World Professional Championships in Frimley Green and the World Trophy

which is in Manchester starting at the end of February 2015.

Notable successes during the year, besides two new ranked titles in Latvia, Irina also returned home

from the WDF Europe Cup in Romania with three medals, one Gold in the ladies pairs, and 2 Bronze,

one for the ladies singles and one for the overall 3rd place for the German ladies team.

In the DDV rankings ( Germany rankings ) Irina retained her number 1 slot, over 1,000 points

ahead of the second placed lady. Irina also defended her German Masters title making her

unbeaten in 4 years in this event since she first took part in 2011.

German Open & German Masters 2014

Another double header and another 2 sets of points collected.

In the German Open on Saturday Irina lost out in the last 4 to Anastasia but went one better on the Sunday in the new German Masters, reaching the final where she lost to Deta Hedman 2 - 0.

Scottish Open 2014

Having played so well on the saturday to earn a place in the semi finals, Irina had a nightmare on the Sunday.

These things happen, of course, from time to time, but this was a performance to forget.

Even so a 3rd place in Scotland is still a very good result.

World Darts Trophy 2014

2014 saw the first new televised event from the BDO/BDO Events.

Taking place in the Blackpool tower the event featured 16 ladies, Irina seeded number 8.

First up was qualifier Sue Gulliver and Irina put in an imppressive performance dropping just one leg, to move into the quarter finals.

In the quarter finals she faced Deta Hedman who she recently lost to in the Lakeside World Champs at the same stage. The first 6 legs all went against the throw, and at 3 - 3 Irina finally held her own throw to move one leg up and then broke Deta for the 4th consecutive time to win the match 5 - 3.

In the semi finals Irina was up against Anastasia Dobromyslova but couldn`t find the form of her first 2 matches and lost out.

German Gold Cup, Bremen

Two of Lakeside 2014 star performers met in the final of the German Gold Cup in Bremen on Saturday, with Aileen de Graaf taking the honours. Despite losing to Aileen, Irina will overtake her in the WDF World Rankings and move back up to 2nd place.
